Abstract

This research is conducted to describe the implementation of teaching vocabulary to the fifth year students of SDN 3 Karang Pakel Klaten and the result of teaching vocabulary using diagram. In this research the writer faces some problems, such as the difficulty to do an exercise, write spelling of the words and pronounce English vocabulary incorrectly. In additions they are not interested in studying English because they feel bored with the teacher’s technique. Here the writer chooses diagram as media to teach vocabulary. To overcome this problem, this research is conducted in four cycles. Each cycle is conducted in one meeting. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data are taken from the event, document and informants. The result of the research shows that: (1) there are 20 (71%) students who increase their English vocabulary achievement, (2) there is (3,6%) student who is static and (3) there are 7 (25%) students who decrease their English vocabulary achievement. Overall, the researcher concludes that teaching English vocabulary though diagram is appropriate to the fifth year students of SDN 3 Karang Pakel Klaten.
