Abstract

This research aims at describing the implementation of teaching English pronunciation by using Nursery Rhyme, the result of teaching pronunciation using Nursery Rhyme, and the students’ responses on the implementation of teaching pronunciation by using Nursery Rhyme. In achieving the objectives of the research, the writer uses Nursery Rhyme technique which involves four steps, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The research is held in SDN 03 Krajankulon Kaliwungu Kendal. The writer takes the fifth grade that consists of 42 students as the subject of the study. There are five meetings in this research, 2 meetings for conducting test and 3 meetings for the cycles in which every cycle is conducted in 1 meeting. The data of the study are the implementation of teaching English pronunciation. There are three method of collecting data such as: field notes, test, and interview. After analyzing data, the writer describes the result of the research which indicates that the mean score of pre test is 60,11. In post, the mean of score is 80,48. The result of pre test and post test indicate that the students have a significant improvement in pronouncing the words. The students also have a positive response. They are not bored and more easily learn English pronunciation. The Students looks more confident to speak and express their feeling. Besides that, they become active and full of concentration in classroom during the lesson. They are also motivated to produce the correct pronunciation. The result of students’ response and the mean score before treatment and after treatment indicate that the students have improvement in pronouncing the words. Thus, it can be said that the teaching pronunciation by using Nursery Rhyme is successful.
