Abstract

The problem of the study is to reveal how the struggle of the major character. The objective of the study is to analyze the novel based on its structural elements and the individual psychological analysis. This study is qualitative study. The object of the study is Caddy’s The Sound and the Fury published in 1929 in New Albany Mississippi by Everyman Publisher Inc. the data source is divided into two, namely primary data source and secondary data source. The primary data source is the novel itself and the secondary data source is the other source related to the analysis such as the author’s biography, internet, and journals. The method of data collection is descriptive analysis. The outcome of the study shows that the major character faces the struggle in her life. It brings her into striving for making her life perfect, although she knows that it is not easy to get it.
