Abstract

This study describes gender injustice in Andy Tennat’s Anna and the King movie based on socialist feminist approach. After analyzing this movie, the writer finds the types of gender injustice in Anna and the King movie. This study belongs to qualitative study. In the method, there are two types of data source, which are used by the writer, namely primary data source and secondary data source. The primary data source and the object is the film of Andy Tennat’s Anna and the King movie itself, meanwhile he secondary one is other data that related of the study. The writer collects the data from both, primary and secondary data sources in a short of document as evidence. The study uses library research to collect the data. The collected data are analyzed by means of descriptive analysis. Having analyzed this film, the writer draws some conclusions. First, structural elements of Anna and the King movie built good production. Second, there are six gender injustices in Anna and the King movie. They are social, religious, education, politic, economic, and law gender injustice. Third, there are some criticisms which are reflected in Anna and the King movie. In Anna and the King movie, director wants to say that women should fight the discrimination of gender to get their right.
