Abstract
The study aims at classifing the types of the request expression found in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire and to describe the intentions of the request expression used by the speaker in conversation. The study is descriptive qualitative. The object of the study is speech act of request in the movie manuscripts. The data are the movie manuscripts consisted of speech act of request. The data are collected by document method and analyzed using sociopragmatics approach. The results of the study show that in the movie manuscripts, first, there are five types of request of expression, namely request for action, request for permission, request for offer, request for invitation and request for proposal. Second, there are six intentions of the request expression used by the speaker in conversation, namely showing warning, showing happiness, showing respect, showing anger, showing being afraid, and showing solidarity.
