Abstract

Every individual views unemployment as an undesirable situation and causes unsafe economic conditions, both in terms of life opportunities and living conditions. With a geographical study, it is possible to find out the trend of the distribution of unemployment and its causes in the province of Central Java. The purpose of this study is to determine the trend of the geographical distribution of the unemployment rate in Central Java province in 2010-2021 and to analyze the factors causing the unemployment rate in Central Java province in 2010-2021. The method used is statistical data processing using the variables of population, GDP, and regional minimum wages. The results of this study are the trend of the geographical distribution of the unemployment rate in Central Java Province in 2010-2021 which is divided into the central part of Central Java province, the South coast, and the North coast. Special Region of Yogyakarta and East Java. The variables of population (X1), GDP (X2), and UMR (X3) together with variations in the rise and fall of the unemployment rate (Y) are 74.69% and 25.31% due to other factors not mentioned in the data panel model regression. The factor causing the unemployment rate in Central Java province is the population and the poverty rate, because the results of the statistical calculation of the random effect model of the probability value of the population and the regional minimum wage are significant to the unemployment rate. Meanwhile, the GDP variable is not significant to the unemployment rate in the province of Central Java.
