Abstract

Anxiety related to dental care or what is called dental anxiety was a disagreeable emotional experience which may caused fear during a dental examination. Most of the patients experience anxiety related to odontectomy due to their perception of the surgical procedure. The level of knowledge could affect the anxiety level which was an important aspect that must be considered. Information related to diseases and surgical procedures could be easily accessed by patients through the existing internet network. This behavior of browsing information on the internet could affect the level of anxiety and the patient's perception of the post-odontectomy condition. Objective: To determine the relationship between browsing behavior for odontectomy information and the level of anxiety and patient perception of post-odontectomy conditions. Research Methods: This research was a quantitative research type, analytical observational, and correlation with three variables, that are the independent variable, namely the behavior of browsing odontectomy information, and the dependent variable, namely the level of anxiety and the patient's perception of the post-odontectomy condition. The instrument used in this research was a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability test IBM SPSS Statistics 20. Data analysis used was univariate analysis, using descriptive statistical methods, and bivariate analysis using Spearman Rank Correlation test. Results: The results of this study found that the majority of respondents were aged 26-35 years (57.6%), female (63.6%), most of them were workers (75.8%), the last education level was diploma/bachelor (75.8%), and most of the respondents had their first odontectomy (69.7%). The level of browsing behavior of all respondents’ odontectomy information was high (100%). The level of patient perception of the post-odontectomy condition of all respondents was positive (100%). The level of anxiety about the post-odontectomy condition of all respondents was normal/not anxious (100%). Conclusion: There was a relationship between Odontectomy Information Browsing Behavior with Anxiety Levels and Patient Perceptions of Post Odontectomy Conditions. The higher the search for odontectomy information, the more positive the perception of the post-odontectomy condition and the lower the anxiety level of the post-odontectomy condition.
