Abstract

This research is an analysis of the authentic love in the novel "Number" by Rachel Ward. The purpose of this study is to determine the reflected of authentic love with existentialist feminism analysis and to find out the characters in the novel. The methodology used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The source of the data in this study is Rachel Ward's novel "Numbers" published by Scholastic Press, Los Angeles in 2010. In collecting data, the author uses a note-taking technique. After the data is collected, the data is analyzed by looking for data based on the problem items and research objectives, the author uses the feminism-existentialist theory of Simone de Beaviour. There are 17 data obtained. It aims to look at the whole novel from the point of view of feminism and apply it to the theory of Existentialist feminism. The results of this study indicate that Jem, a woman who has differences and a man who is very strong in her stance, is able to unite and face all problems together, the story in this novel indirectly discusses women and power so if they talk about Existentialist feminist theory, the story in this novel is very relevant.
