Abstract
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading cause of death in the world. The problem of over nutrition or obesity in adults is one of the factors in the occurrence of various metabolic and degenerative diseases. One of the diseases that arise due to excess nutrition (obesity) is hypertension. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge of hypertension, perception of obesity with hypertension prevention behavior in SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta. This analytic observational research was carried out with a cross sectional study design. The population of this study were all students of class X and XI of SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta. A sample of 243 students were selected by simple random sampling. Collecting data using a questionnaire in the form of a google form. Data analysis was performed by statistical test using Chi-square. The results of the study between good knowledge of hypertension (52.3%) showed no relationship (p˃0.584), while research on perceptions of obesity was not good (51.7%) showed no relationship (p˃0.773) with hypertension disease prevention behavior. It needs cooperation from the school with health installations to carry out health checks and increase knowledge about the risk of PTM by providing health education to all students according to the school schedule. Adolescents are expected to increase their awareness and concern for the prevention of hypertension.
