Abstract

Indonesia ranks 7th out of 10 countries with the highest Diabetes Mellitus in the world. Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder with high blood sugar that requires rational treatment in order to achieve therapeutic success and prevent complications or unwanted reactions. Acute complications of Diabetes Mellitus that can occur are hypoglycemia and diabetic ketoacidosis. This study aims to describe the rationality of treatment in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Tawangsari Sukoharjo Health Center in 2021 with the precise indication parameters, precise drug, precise patient, and precise dose. This study uses a non-experimental method through a descriptive approach. The population of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Tawangsari Health Center in 2021 from 109 patients who became the sample found 88 patients based on inclusion and exclusion criteria with purposive sampling technique. The antidiabetic used in this study included Metformin (28,41%), Glimepirid (21,59%), Glibenclamide (7,95%), and Acarbose (3,41%). The combination of Metformin + Glimepiride (22,73%) and metformin + glibenclamide (19,32%). The results of the study evaluating the rationality of antidiabetic in patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus were 100% precise indication, 88,64% precise drug, 100% precise patient, and 89,77% precise dose. The rationality for the treatment of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is 78,41% and the irrationality is 21,59%.
