Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder caused by the pancreas not producing enough insulin or the body unable to use the insulin that has been produced effectively. Treatment of DM can be done by way of insulin injection system. However, The treatment has proven to be ineffective because the price is not yet affordable wide community. Based on the results of our PKM group literature study, in addition to By means of an insulin injection system, the treatment of DM can be done through: hemodialysis therapy by modifying membrane characteristics and types of dialysate. Student Creativity Program (PKM) 5 Fields is an event for students to grow, accommodate, and realize ideas creative and innovative students which are conducted annually. Similarly, when the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak hit the world, no dampen the enthusiasm of students, universities, and various parties to continue to carry out PKM activities. Our PKM-RE team takes the topic of developing an ultrafiltration membrane made from corn cobs used to lower blood sugar levels. Use of humps Corn that is less than optimal is the background in this study. The innovation in this research is emphasized on the selection of membrane raw materials cheap and modified dialyzer machine for dialysis (hemodialysis) for reduce blood sugar levels in DM patients.
