Abstract

Creative character development and love for the homeland have not been carried out optimally. Many schools have not fully implemented creative character education and love for the homeland wholeheartedly. Must be evaluated to strengthen and become a quality character. The focus of this research discusses the development of creative character and love for the homeland in students. The purpose of this study is to describe the development of creative character and love for the homeland in students, to describe the obstacles and solutions in the development of creative character and love for the homeland in students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method at the Department of Dance at SMK Negeri 8 Surakarta. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation and documentation. The validity of the data used in this study is triangulation. Data analysis was performed using interactive analysis. The results showed that the Department of Dance at SMK N 8 Surakarta has implemented creative character development in the subjects of the basics of creativity by providing opportunities for students to convey ideas about dance concepts, to become complete dance works and opportunities for students. take the initiative to solve problems. The development of the character of love for the homeland is carried out in regional dance subjects, habituation to using local products in dance props and make-up. Students are taught to sing folk songs and organize sangalikur performances as an effort to preserve the art of dance. Barriers to character development are the lack of self-confidence of students, cohesiveness in groups and there are still students who prefer foreign makeup brands. The solution to overcome these obstacles is with teachers who always motivate and guide students so that the goals of developing creative character and love for the homeland can be maximized.
