Abstract

Kartasura sub-district is located at the intersection of the state roads of Surabaya – Solo – Yogyakarta and Solo – Semarang, so that this sub-district becomes the most strategic area for economic circulation and traffic flow. However, the existence of public spaces and city-scale mosques is not adequately accommodated. As for the shophouses on the side of the road, which are often found, the condition is neglected, the local people often make it a place for night entertainment. The tendency of the people in Kartasura to lack spirituality is one of the triggers for the unavailability of a city-scale mosque. Through adaptations that support dynamic interactions between buildings and the surrounding community, the accommodation of public space facilities for group activities and complex worship facilities provides spaces for religious activities in an area that is carried out so as to increase blessings and benefits for the surrounding area. The qualitative data collection method is in the form of descriptive ideas from data taken directly by field surveys and indirectly from literature studies. The data is then analyzed to be able to create a design concept. The results of the design are in the form of ideas and concept ideas from the revitalization of shop houses into public space buildings and multipurpose buildings, as well as a mosque complex with its square. Elements of open public space and economic facilities are also displayed so that a public space area and mosque complex are needed in Kartasura District.
