Abstract

This research departs from the background of the orphanage teenagers who commit violations from starting to smoke, not obeying the rules to running away from the orphanage. Parenting style needs to be used to foster morale at the age of teenagers who are experiencing a transition period or have a high emotional level. Meanwhile, in fostering adolescent morale, there are also supporting factors, and of course also inhibiting factors. The objectives of this study are (1) to determine the implementation of parenting style in fostering adolescent morale at the Tirtonugroho Tirtomoyo Orphanage. (2) To find out the supporting and inhibiting factors in fostering youth morale at the Tirtonugroho Tirtomoyo Orphanage.ykiThe type of research used is a qualitative field research. The research approach in this study is psychological. Sources of data obtained from primary and secondary data sources, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique is by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that there are three parenting styles used in fostering adolescent morale in orphanages, namely authoritarian, authoritative, and permissive. Based on the results of the study, there are types of parenting that are suitable to be applied at the Tirtanugroho Orphanage, namely authoritative parenting, because with an authoritative parenting style, teenagers do not easily break the rules. So, the authoritative parenting style can make teenagers more obedient to the rules that apply in the orphanage. The methods used in fostering adolescent morale are exemplary, habituation, advice, and dialogue. This method is applied by the caretakers of the orphanage to their foster children through daily activities. Supporters in fostering adolescent morale are the environment, encouragement from parents and parental education. Inhibiting factors in fostering morals are peers, economic conditions, cellphones and previous parenting styles.
