Abstract

Education is a conscious and planned effort to create a learning atmosphere and learning process so that students actively develop their potential to have religious spiritual strength, self-control, personality, intelligence, noble character, and skills needed by themselves, society, nation and state. Early childhood is an individual figure who is undergoing a process of development for the next life. Early childhood education basically includes all efforts and actions taken by educators and parents in the process of caring for, nurturing, educating children. Every human action or activity in the world must have a goal to be achieved. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in interest and reading skills of children who learn to read with alphabet stickers and pictures in Aisyah Pucangan 1 Surakarta Kindergarten. The research method used is classroom action research. Classroom Action Research is a research that is carried out systematically reflective of the various actions taken by the teacher who is also a researcher, from the preparation of a plan to an assessment of real actions in the classroom in the form of teaching and learning activities to improve the learning conditions carried out in the meantime. Based on the results of classroom action research that has been carried out in two cycles, it can be concluded that using the writing and drawing method can increase children's interest in reading at Aisyah Pucangan 1 Kartasura Kindergarten. The results of the analysis after the implementation of the Cycle I and Cycle II actions have shown that as many as 26 children or 100% are interested in reading. The results were carried out by introducing writing and drawing learning methods to increase children's interest and ability to read.
