Abstract

This study aims to describe the meaning contained in the short story text of the students of SMA Negeri 1 Mlonggo Jepara. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method in the form of a method that leads to a word or speech and not in the form of numbers. The result of the research is the meaning of compound words which have criteria from three meanings of compound words, namely verbs, nouns and adjectives. In this study also mapped the categories of compound word meanings found in the compositions of students of SMA Negeri 1 Mlonggo Jepara which were classified into three namely, explaining the meaning of compound words found in short story texts by class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Mlonggo Jepara. There are three meanings of compound words, namely. 1) compound words mean nouns, 2) compound words mean verbs, 3) compound words mean adjectives.
