Abstract

The tourism sector is one of the sectors that supports the Indonesian economy. According to Bank Indonesia in 2019, the tourism sector occupies the second position as a contributor to Indonesia's foreign exchange. Therefore, the government through the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy continues to encourage local governments to develop the potential of local areas as tourist destinations. Blora Regency as one of the regencies located in the easternmost part of Central Java Province, is known as an area with the best natural teak forest potential. The potential of teak forests that have existed since the colonial period of the Dutch East Indies, provides several remnants that are now used as tourist destinations, including the Heritage Loco Tour and Gubug Payung. However, some tourism objects related to teak forests are less attractive and the number of tourists visiting is still low. The main problem of this phenomenon is the lack of optimization of the facilities in tourism objects in a professional manner. Based on the review of these problems, efforts to support government programs in developing local tourism potential, utilizing Blora teak forests as tourist destinations can be the right step. The realization is through a forest tour or ecotourism as well as the development of attractions related to teak under the name Blora Jati Center. Teak wood itself can be processed and produced into a creative teak craft. The development of these attractions is in the form of training or workshops in the process of making teak wood handicraft products. In addition, as an effort to care for the use of forests where the issue of deforestation is rife in Indonesian forests, there needs to be awareness to be wiser in its use. The concept of an ecotourism approach is the right solution in creating harmony between tourism and nature. The concept of ecotourism is known as the principles of conservation, economy, education, and society. The concept is applied to each principle in building design, area planning, land use, and the development of types of attractions.
