Abstract

The Pekalongan Mangrove Information Center (PIM) area has decreased public interest in visiting. In addition, the reduction of mangrove varieties due to lowering of ground water level, sea level rise and lack of knowledge about mangrove ecosystems in the community (a lot of littering and cutting down mangrove trees). Based on the directives of the Minister of Home Affairs Regulation No. 33 of 2009 concerning ecotourism development, its development in each region must be supported by the local government. This study uses a SWOT analysis, aiming to find out the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats at the research location, especially related to environmental conditions and mangrove conditions in PIM Pekalongan, by means of analysis and interviews. The results of this study indicate a reduction in the number of mangrove varieties from 18 species to only 4 species, besides that there are issues of natural conditions such as land subsidence and sea level rise. Based on these results, it can be concluded that to answer architectural problems by providing supporting facilities at Mangrove Park, some of which provide nurseries, planting areas, and mangrove learning centers in the form of signage, libraries, as well as "Mangrove Houses".
