Abstract

Social media is a means of disseminating information during the Covid-19 Pandemic, various forms of information can be seen by the audience of media users. In the midst of busy promoting the effectiveness of the vaccine program, the audience in receiving messages or information is not always interpreted in the same way as what is available by news writers. Using reception analysis with Encoding–Decoding Theory, developed by Stuart Hall. Reception of the message will depend on the individual in reading and interpreting the media message. The purpose of this study is to find out how the residents of Plaosan Village interpret the Covid-19 vaccination information on Facebook Media. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Collecting data through an interview process with ten informants. The results of the study reveal that seven informants are in the Dominant Reading position, two informants are in the Negotiated Reading Position and one informant is in the Opposite Reading Position. In that sense, the majority of Plaosan Village residents are able to understand and accept various forms of vaccines delivered by news writers through Facebook media. The process of meaning of citizens on messages is influenced by the experience and knowledge of each individual.
