Abstract

The existence of industry, especially oil mining in an area, both on a large and small scale, is able to have an impact on the community. Positive impacts are highly expected and negative impacts are controlled to minimize the damage caused by the oil mining industry. As the largest oil producer in Indonesia, one of which is in Bojonegoro Regency, oil exploration is still managed traditionally, namely in Kedewan District such as in Wonocolo, Kawengan, Beji, Hargomulyo and Kedewan villages, which are villages that already produce petroleum and are processed traditionally by the community. Drilling in Bojonegoro Regency also includes conventional drilling using sophisticated machines in the Sukowati, Gayam and Cepu areas which are members of the Banyu Urip oil drilling. The aims of this study are (1) to analyze the social and economic changes of the people in Kedewan sub-district, (2) to analyze the factors that influence the people to choose work in mining. Methods This research uses a qualitative descriptive method using a field survey. The population and the number of samples used are 86 people consisting of mining workers in Kedewan District which consists of 5 villages. Data collection uses primary and secondary data. Primary data consists of surveys and interviews using questionnaires, secondary data obtained from government agencies, published journals, the internet, and from existing research. The results of this study indicate that traditional oil mining affects the economic sector and social conditions of the people in Kedewan District in order to support daily mobility and increase education for the community due to the ease of access and infrastructure in Kedewan District.
