Abstract

The city of Semarang is one of the cities that is experiencing very fast development, the development of this development is adjusted to the activities and needs of the community. As the capital of Central Java Province and supported by a strategic location, Semarang City has developed through various sectors, such as the transportation sector, trade sector, industrial sector, and education sector. The sector certainly triggers an attraction so that it becomes a destination for the urbanization of the population. This makes the development of the population in the city of Semarang increase every year. This increase in population growth is in line with the increasing development of built-up areas and the reduction of green land, this can have an impact on the emergence of a critical environment. The objectives of this study, 1) analyze changes in the built-up area in Semarang City in 2010 and 2020, 2) analyze changes in the environmental criticality index in Semarang City in 2010 and 2020, and 3) Analyze the relationship between changes in the built-up area and the environmental criticality index in Semarang City. The method used in this research is the method of processing satellite image data. The image processing method is used to get the results of environmental criticality (from the comparison between surface temperature and vegetation index) and the built area in Semarang City. After processing the criticality of the environment and the built-up area, it is continued with sampling using the stratified random sampling method to see samples in the field with the results that have been carried out. Then for the results of the built area with environmental criticality, a simple linear regression analysis was carried out to see the magnitude of the influence. The results obtained are the built-up area in Semarang City has increased from 2010 (6272.0 Ha) in 2020 to (12170.0 Ha). This makes the vegetation density in the city of Semarang change where the non-vegetated, very low, low, and medium classes will experience a slight increase in 2020, and the high vegetation density will decrease slightly. The surface temperature condition in Semarang City increased from 2010 its value ranged from 14.8 – 37.02°C, changed in 2020 the value of the surface temperature ranged from 16.01 – 41.17°C. The above factors make changes in environmental criticality in Semarang City from 2010 to 2020 increasingly critical when calculating the area between 2010 and 2020, the very low and low classes experience a considerable decrease in area, which is around 5000-6000 Ha, while for the critical class, medium to high experienced a slight increase of around 1000-2000 Ha and in the very high class experienced a fairly large increase of around 7000 Ha. This result is also supported by a simple linear regression test where the influence of the built area on environmental criticality is 65.8%.
