Abstract

Inequality is a problem in the development process that cannot be eliminated, especially in developing countries. Economic inequality between regions on the island of Java is a serious problem, because the growth of each province is different. The level of economic inequality between provinces in Java is measured by the Williamson index. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the Human Development Index, exports, labor, and economic growth on inequality between provinces in Java. This study uses secondary data in the form of panel data consisting of cross time period 2015-2019 and cross place 6 provinces on the island of Java. The approach method used to estimate this regression model is the FEM (Fixed Effect Model) approach. The regression results show that HDI, exports, and labor variables have a significant effect on regional economic inequality between regions on Java Island, while the economic growth variable has no effect on regional inequality between regions on Java Island.
