Abstract

Hypertension is a silent killer disease, because it often occurs without feeling any complaints. Someone who has high spirituality will be able to control his chronic illness and can help patients control the condition patiently, calmly, and get their life goals. Improving the quality of life and improving the quality of life is the final achievement that must be obtained for someone who suffers from chronic disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of spiritual intelligence, quality of life, and the relationship between spiritual intelligence and quality of life of people with hypertension at Pajang Health Center Surakarta. This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling method used purposive sampling technique using the Spiritual Intelligence Self Report Inventory (SISRI) and SF-36 questionnaires. The population of hypertension sufferers was 886 with the formula n=N/(1 + N. (d)^2 ) so that 90 samples were obtained. Respondents of this study were hypertension sufferers with an age range of 35-65 years at Pajang Health Center Surakarta. Based on the results of the Spearman test, it shows that the significant value is 0.001 (p<0.05) so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between spiritual intelligence and the quality of life of people with hypertension. While the correlation coefficient formed is 0.815 a positive sign indicates a unidirectional relationship. The frequency of low spiritual intelligence is 24 respondents (26.7%), moderate spiritual intelligence is 32 respondents (35.6%) and high spiritual intelligence is 34 respondents (37.8%). Then for data on the frequency of low quality of life totaling 24 respondents or (26.7%) and for high quality of life totaling 66 respondents (73.3%). There is a relationship between spiritual intelligence and the quality of life of people with hypertension with a strong and positive relationship.
