Abstract

WHO estimates that by 2050 the population aged 60 years and over will double, while those aged 80 or older will number 400 million. The increase in the elderly population in Indonesia has social and economic impacts for individuals, families, and the social environment. The elderly will also experience an inevitable process called aging which can reduce the ability of the elderly to consume nutrients so that it has an impact on their quality of life. This study aims to determine the relationship between nutritional status and quality of life of the elderly in Kedaton Village, Kapas District, Bojonegoro Regency. This type of research is quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all elderly registered at posyandu. The number of samples in this study were 104 people, consisting of 51 men and 53 women, the sample selection was by probability sampling technique and simple random sampling by lottery. Data collection on nutritional status by measuring Body Mass Index (BMI) while the quality of life using OPQOL-BREF. Analysis of research results using the chi-square seen in the Pearson Chi-Square with <0.05. The results of this study obtained the results of nutritional status, namely 50 respondents with poor nutrition (48%) and good nutritional status, namely 54 respondents (52%). %) while the quality of life is low as many as 51 respondents (49%). This shows that there is a relationship between nutritional status and quality of life of the elderly with p value = 0.018. The results of this study are expected to be input to pay more attention to the condition of the elderly regarding nutritional intake and quality of life.
