Abstract

Anemia is the most common health problem in developing countries. Anemia is prone to occur in pregnant woman. The prevalence of anemia in the third trimester at the Gringsing Health Center in 2020 was high 52.76%. Anemia during pregnancy occurs due to increased oxygen triggers increased production of erythropoeitin. Objective to determine the relationship between knowledge and compliance to taking additional blood drinking tablets on Hb levels of pregnant women at the Gringsing Health Center District Batang. Methods This study used an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The selection of Gringsing health center based on the highest prevalence of anemia in pregnant women in Batang Regency. Samples were selected using consecutive sampling method resulted in 44 pregnant women that met the inclusion criteria of this study were the pregnant women who check their Hb level in puskesmas can read and write, pregnant women who receive the additional blood tablets, lives in gringsing health center area. Pregnancy woman who had medical disorders such a worm infection and blood cell disorder . Knowledge and compliance to taking tablets additional blood data were obtained from questionnaires and hemoglobin levels were obtained from Hb examination by stik Hb method at the health centre. The data analyzed using Rank Spearman. The result showed that most of the pregnant woment were lack of knowledge (59.1%) and as many as 40.9% pregnant woment had good knowledge, most of the pregnant women were compliant of taking Fe tablets (54.5%), and the rest were not compliant (45.5%). The anemia incidence in pregnant women was 63.6%. Statistical test showed p-value of 0.001 on knowledge variable and p-value of 0.001 on compliance variable. Conclusions There is a relationship between knowledge and compliance to taking additional blood tablets on Hb levels of pregnant women
