Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic is an event that spreads disease, this disease is caused by a Coronavirus named SARS-CoV-2. The pandemic has general symptoms usually in the form of fever, cough, flu, and shortness of breath. With the pandemic, not only the health system and emergency services were tested in an extraordinary way, but also disrupted the fisheries sector and its actors, and had a negative impact on social and economic activities for fishermen, causing fishermen to have to adapt. This also happened on the coast of Sayung District, Demak Regency. The impacts that occur on fishermen on the coast of Sayung District are in the form of economic impacts, social/occupational impacts, and health impacts for fishermen. The aims of this research are: (1) Analyzing the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on fishermen on the coast of Sayung District, Demak Regency. (2) Assessing the adaptation of fishermen formed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic on the coast of Sayung District, Demak Regency. The method used is the survey method and interviews using a questionnaire. The number of respondents was determined using Proportional Cluster Sampling with the selection of respondents using the Convenience Sampling technique. The analysis used is an analysis of the ecological approach to examine the interaction phenomenon of the impact and adaptation of fishermen to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. The results of the study showed that: (1) The impact of the pandemic that occurred on fishermen in Sayung District was in the form of economic impacts, impacts on work, and health impacts for fishermen. The perceived economic impact is a decrease in fishermen's income due to a decrease in the selling price of fishermen's catch and a decrease in the number of consumers due to the PSBB and Lockdown that occurred. The impact on the work felt by fishermen is that some fishermen look for side jobs and changes in working hours and changes in the duration of work of fishermen to meet their daily needs and increase their income. The health impact felt by fishermen is in the form of a high level of concern or anxiety due to fear of the spread of the virus, but the number of virus transmission and the weakened condition of fishermen is still less than the condition of good or healthy fishermen. (2) the efforts made by fishermen to adapt by looking for side jobs to increase their income and other efforts by administering vaccines to strengthen the immune system to avoid the spread of the virus and to comply with health protocols when interacting in public places. Meanwhile, the adaptation that has been carried out by the government according to stakeholders is in the form of a vaccine program, providing food and diesel fuel packages for groups of fishermen and making activities carried out by fishermen and funded by the government in order to improve the fishermen's economy.
