Abstract

Heart failure is a chronic disease with a high mortality rate, a decrease in quality of life, a high incidence of rehospitalization, various co-morbidities, and the provision of complex treatment therapies. One of the main managements performed on patients with heart failure to reduce the risk of rehospitalization is by doing self-care. The implementation of good self-care is influenced by the patient's level of self-efficacy so the higher the patient's self-efficacy, the better the patient will do self-care. Self-efficacy in patients can be increased in several ways, one of which is by providing regular and structured education using several types of facilities such as conducting interviews interspersed with discussions, brochures, or booklets as well as conducting counseling via text messages and telephone, as well as providing video-based multimedia, One example of a multimedia-based educational facility is the use of e-health. Telehealth or e-health is the use of medical information that can be accessed through electronic communication to improve the patient's health status. This study aims to determine how the effect of e-health as an effort to increase self-efficacy on self-care in heart failure patients. This study uses a quantitative design with a pre-experimental approach with one group pre-test-post test. A sample of 68 people took the sample using a non-random sampling technique with purposive sampling. The data collection instrument used a demographic questionnaire and a cardiac self-efficacy scale (CSE Scale) questionnaire consisting of 12 questions. Data analysis used paired sample t-test. The characteristics of the majority of the respondents were male as much as 55.9% and the degrees of NYHA II and III with the same percentage. The results of average value obtained before being treated are 34.04 and after being given treatment is 40.56 so it can be concluded that there is an effect of e-health on the self-efficacy of heart failure patients at Dr. Hospital. Moewardi with a p-value of 0.000 and an r-count value for all items has an r-count value > r table.
