Abstract

Information services are part of human needs that cannot be left behind, both at work and at home. The information system needs to be supported by a number of servers placed in a room, which is usually called a server room. A power supply failure in a server room is a serious nuisance, because it can cause the failure of the information system services contained in it. This article will discuss about the power supply failure monitoring system in the server room based on the client-server system contained in the Robot Operating System (ROS). In the ROS system each ROS agent can fight both as a server and as a client at the same time. Raspberry pi will be used as a ROS agent whose job is to monitor data supply failures in the server room by taking pictures of the meter indicators contained in the power supply stabilizer device. The power supply status meter indicator displays the voltage level using a seven-segment display device. The voltage level display will be taken by the camera on the rasberry and will be sent to a data processing center equipped with a ROS agent as well. The data processing center is equipped with an image-to-text processing application to read the power supply voltage level in the server room. The results of the server room power supply status display readings will always be sent to the administrator with an adjustable time period. If the time is 6 in the morning, the system will send an email to the administrator for mitigation. Thus, it is hoped that this system can help server administrators monitor the high-voltage power supply of the server room without sensors that are directly connected to the high-voltage power supply line. Tests have been carried out in two server rooms belonging to UMS, and the test results show that this system is able to monitor the high voltage status during the trial period in the UMS server room and report the situation via email.
