Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the self-disclosure of domestic violence victims to their families from the trauma they have suffered. This type of research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data are collected though observation, interview, and document study. The data is validated with triangulation technique. The informants were three married women, experienced domestic violence, and got trauma due to domestic violence, who lived in Waru, Baki District, Sukoharjo. The data were collected through interviews and document studies. The result shows,self-disclosure begins with small talk about childhood, household advice, and other ordinary stories. The facts stage is the approach stage with one of his family members. At the opinion stage, the reasons for the husband's domestic violence were disclosed, among others: the nature of his husband who was cruel character, economic factor and jealousy. At the feeling stage, domestic violence causes the victim to experience trauma to loud noises, excessive fear and insomnia, and feelings of fear when leaving the house.
